Dryer Desiccants
Van Air Systems offers seven types of desiccants designed to meet diverse air and gas drying requirements. The most widely used is Dry-O-Lite, valued for its balance of affordability and performance. For natural gas pipeline dryers, SP is ideal for gas temperatures below 80°F, while 10BF provides the highest density and efficiency for demanding dehydration needs. In cases requiring exceptionally low dew points under low pressure, low flow, or low temperature, 4UF delivers reliable results. Additional options include Activated Alumina and Molecular Sieve, both offering high adsorption capacity, with molecular sieves capable of achieving dew points as low as -100°F. Silica Gel is another versatile choice, providing strong moisture adsorption along with a convenient color-change indicator when saturated. Together, these desiccants ensure clean, dry air and gas, protecting equipment, reducing downtime, and maintaining process quality across industries. Super Dry-O-Lite Desiccant Tablets
SUPER Dry-O-Lite performs better than in SP in High Temperatures! Our Dry-O-Lite desiccant is the industry-leading, deliquescent desiccant for compressed air. It’s was our first chemical drying agent specifically formulated for Van Air Systems Single Tower Deliquescent Dryers and Natural Gas Pipeline Dryers. Our SP desiccant was formulated primarily for the dehydration of natural gas. We took these two desiccants and formulated a new desiccant… Super Dry-O-Lite. Super Dry-O-Lite will meet or exceed the performance to our SP desiccant and has a higher temperature threshold.

Special Purpose “SP”
SP is a leading deliquescent desiccant formulated primarily for the dehydration of natural gas for use in Van Air Systems Pipeline Dryers when the gas temperature is below 80°F. SP is a dense hygroscopic tablet that absorbs water vapor. The surface of the desiccant tablet dissolves slowly, forming a brine solution which drops from the surface. The tablet continuously dissolves, or deliquesces, until the desiccant is fully consumed. Van Air Systems deliquescent desiccants, including SP, are non-toxic and fully water soluble. In a properly sized Pipeline Dryer, SP will establish a relative humidity of 33%, which equates to a dew point approximately 30°F lower than the temperature of the gas at the inlet of the dryer.

Dry-O-Lite Desiccant Tablets
Dry-O-Lite, the industry-leading deliquescent desiccant, is a chemical drying agent specifically formulated for Van Air Systems single tower compressed air dryers and natural gas pipeline dryers. Dry-O-Lite is a dense hygroscopic tablet that absorbs water vapor from streams of compressed air or gas. The surface of the desiccant tablet dissolves slowly, forming a brine solution which drops from the surface. The tablet continuously dissolves, or deliquesces, until the desiccant is fully consumed. In a properly sized D-series Compressed Air Dryer or Pipeline Dryer, Dry-O-Lite will establish a relative humidity of 55%, which equates to a dew point approximately 20°F lower than the temperature of the compressed air or gas at the inlet of the dryer.
